American Kenpo Karate

About Me: I am 63 years old, and have had a lifelong love of martial arts and outdoor activities. I grew up in New Mexico, spent 4 years in Vietnam where I was wounded, left with an honorable discharge. I eventually became disabled (in 2002) due to nerve damage from chemical exposure. I have trained in martial arts for over 40 years, and is the primary reason I remain able to walk and function. I have been a court appointed bodyguard for battered women and children, and was the only martial arts school recommended by the California Victim -Witness Assistance Program. I am currently 7th dan in TAI Kenpo, a style developed by the Late David German. I also hold black belts in Jiu jitsu, Tae Kwon Do, and a second style of Kenpo.

Experience: I have been studying for 40 years, starting in Japan. My classes here started in Denver with David German and Ken Galster. Became head instructor in 1977 . Resumed training in TAE Kwon Do with John Salazer, reaching 2nd dan under him. I then trained with Joseph Olivarez and earned my 3rd dan in Kenpo and also cross trained in Escrima. Studied with Carol More in Jiu jutsu and Tomiki Aikido for four years, . Studied with Tim Boucher and Tom Pless in Judo and Brazilian Jiu Jutsu, and took more training in Iaido and basic Kendo. I also work as a stunt man with the Rio Arriba Stuntmans association, choreographing all fight scenes, and double as weapon master. I am also involved in the Anti-bullying campaign here, and continue to act as bodyguard for families at risk.
