Martial Arts Styles: Shotokan Karate

About Me: Began Study in 1972 I now have a full-time dojo in Adelaide called the Adelaide Academy of Karate-Do Shotokan. I am a member of the JKAAustralia group with Sensei Takaatsu Nishimura.

Experience: I began as a student within the KUGB (JKA) Nottingham England. My Dojo Sensei was Mr Derrick Langham and Grading Sensei S. Asano then Sensei K.Enoeda of the JKA. I migrated to Australia began my own dojo and operate a full-time dojo six days a week in Adelaide South Australia. I represented Australia at APUKO 6 in 1985 and have coached eighteen students to be proud members of the Australian team over previous years for mainly kata but kumite also.

My name is David Rigby, and I am the owner of The Adelaide Academy of Karate-Do Shotokan. I am told by many that it is considered a most successful karate schools.

Since 1972 I have personally helped thousands to use the discipline of the martial arts to conquer their fears, transferring that power to all areas of their lives. No other activity can do this better!

Adelaide Academy is one of the larger school of its kind in Adelaide, and has been described by many as one the best for them! Accolades are all when and nice but ultimately it’s all about; “What’s In It For You?”
