Martial Arts Styles: Baguazhang

About Me: Shizi Dale Dugas has over 30 years of continuous training in Chinese, Chinese/Okinawan, and Japanese martial arts systems. He achieved a Shodan(1st degree Black Belt) in Okinawan Uechi-Ryu Karate-do at age 16. He is well versed in Southern Short Hand systems. He was first introduced to the complexities of the Chinese internal arts( Xingiquan, Baguazhang, Taijiquan), and various Qi Gong methods under Shifu Kwan Sai Hung, best known as the protagonist in the book, The Wandering Taoist. He has lived in Japan after earning a B.A. in Japanese Studies from Earlham College, and appeared on National Japanese TV as well as local Japanese news programs. Shizi Dugas has been studying Jiulong Baguazhang since 1998 when he was first introduced to the system via Jimmy Morris and Bob Downey of South Shore Internal Arts. He received his first level of Jiulong Baguazhang teaching certification in 2006. He is currently working towards his Masters Degree in Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine at New England School of Acupuncture. Shizi Dugas has made a personal vow to follow Dr. John P. Painter and propagate the Jiulong Baguazhang system and the Li Jia Daoqiquan, as having been exposed to different systems over the years, he feels the Jiulong Baguazhang and Li Jia Daoqiquan offers a well rounded curriculum for both the combat warrior, and seekers of the quiet path. He looks forward to furthering research on Lijia Daoqiquan, Tieh Sha Zhang Gong (Iron Palm) and Tieh Bu Shan Gong (Iron Vest) training, Shuai Jiao and Chin-Na (Throwing and Grappling) and Dit Da Ke (Chinese trauma medicine) as well as strength training with Kettlebells.
