Introduction to Zui Quan
Zui Quan is a rare martial art that originates from China that commonly is called 'Drunken Kung Fu'. This style combines techniques from a range of Chinese martial arts that can make a practitioner appear drunk.
The movement appear to be that of a drunkard mainly due to the swaying of the centre of balance by shifting the momentum and weight of the body to create a 'staggering' effect with what appear to be unpredictable movements.
Zui quan is highly uncommon in the world of martial arts with most marial artists having little or no knowledge of it. The techniques and forms are dangerous and require a high level of physical ability and strength.
Despite the name of the Zui Quan (Drunken Fist) - it bears no relationship at all to intoxication of the body, in fact part of the philosophies taught are to keep a very clear mind. The name merely resembles the appearance of the movements.
