Chiu Mo Kwoon Hung Gar Martial Arts

We are Chiu Mo Kwoon. We are a traditional Shaolin Kung Fu, Tai Chi, and Lion Dance academy that was established in Chinatown, Boston, in February of 2003. Since then we have been devoted teaching our knowledge and skills to the community. Initially a strong family bond held us together. We were devoted to achieving martial arts expertise. The many demonstrations we performed over the years attracted both newcomers and keen martial arts enthusiasts from different walks of life. With their encouragement, we finally became a Kung Fu Academy.

Traditional Hung Gar Kung Fu is the main martial arts curriculum we teach. We also train in the use of all kinds of martial arts techniques that span the Northern and Southern systems and reveal the secrets of both external as well as internal Kung Fu. Our practice of Kung Fu is a legacy of centuries of expert Kung Fu Masters with roots that stem directly from the ancient schools of China including the Shaolin Temple. Through their dedication to finding the fullest potential of Hung Gar Kung Fu, these generations of Masters laid out the foundation for perfecting the art, fortunately for us. Now we would like to share this with the local community, the people at large and the whole world. We wish to see young children grow up with the mental acumen and physical vitality that Kung Fu practitioners acquire through strict and vigorous training. We want to cultivate strong moral character in people from all levels of society. Our goal is to equip people, regardless of their physical abilities, with essential martial skills, enabling them to have the most fundamental self-defense abilities. Likewise, we wish to provide martial arts enthusiasts with advanced martial arts training.

Our academy is now open to the public. Today we teach authentic Hung Gar Tiger Crane Kung Fu as it has been passed down to our academy through a direct lineage of masters from the Shaolin Temple. Our presence in Chinatown, Boston, dates back to 1967 when Sifu opened the Bamboo Hut Club, the first traditional Kung Fu school in the area. We continue to thrive as we practice our art under the auspices of our master Sifu Woo. His fifty years of experience combined with his unique teaching methods and knowledge of the martial arts have been and continue to be world-renowned.
