Yes only the strong. I learned most of my art in Central America. I had to direction in spanish and Japonese. I do understand A little portaguese. I am familer wite some the movements in your art, Like the cartwheel and hand stand movements, Called armada, I think, which to me translates to Guarded Position. Guard your head and use the flow redirection to make an escape. It is almost the same as Aikido. Sorry it took so long for me to respond I have my Mom in the hospital right now.

Just to talk a bit about H2H

Just to talk a bit about H2H (hand to hand) combat in the military via the different branches and what they offer in that department.

Firstly, Hand-to-hand combat (sometimes abbreviated as HTH or H2H) is a generic term often referring to weaponless fighting conducted from a military based point of view. The phrase "hand-to-hand" indicates unarmed combat but often allows for the consideration of weapons usage and implementation.

U. S. Army: Modern Army Combatives (MAC)- http://www.moderncombatives.org/

U. S. Air Force: The Us Air Force adopted "MAC" as its hand-to-hand combat system in early 2008

U. S. Marine Corps: Marine Corps Martial Arts Program (MCMAP)-
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marine_Corps_Martial_Arts_Program

U. S. Navy: Currently, I don't think the Navy have a program in place for it's organization. However, the SEALS team does get hand to hand combat training, there is nothing in place for the regular Navy Force to my knowledge (If someone knows differently please post!) However, the Marine Corps does fall under the Navy.

U. S. Coast Guard: Currently, the Coast Guard does not have a program in place for it's organization, however some components of the Coast Guard (depending on what you do, etc) does train extensively in defensive tactics and control techniques.

-Would anyone like to add anything... or any thoughts... or questions??? Personally, I think All branches of the military should have a H2H Program in place for their service members. Just my thoughts.

The Marine corps and Army is

The Marine corps and Army is a must to have H2H, the Navy in WW2 had "Commandos", who were actually more like Marines. The Navy Seals, on long tour with a fleet, will teach H2H to the crew on their off time. I think the simple fact of terrorism would motivate the DOD to establish effective H2H to all of our sailors and troops. The original H2H had a lot of Jujitsu and TKD incorporated in it. It even has a few Pinan Katas in it. I learned the original system, which to my understanding has been modified. The reason I believe is because I think I may have adapted some Israels Technigue, I can not confirm this it is Scuttlebutt I heard, but it would make sense. Even though H2H is empty hand we were also taught how to use Knives and bayonets. I can understand the reason the Coast Guard would teach H2H, when you board a boat to inspect it, or search it the need for close quarters H2h knowledge is a must. I was Army but worked with the special Boat Units.I do know that Air Force does cross train with Army in a number of fields. All branches cross train In Jungle Operations Expert school which used to be located in Ft. Sherman Panama. H2H is fast and effective and deadly when learned practiced and executed correctly. I think Army Ranger and the SEAL teams practice it more and are the best at it for the fact of the nature of their missions.

I would agree with it being a

I would agree with it being a must have for army and marine corps. If I'm not mistaken... I think its a part of mandatory training for service members of those two branches these days. Also, though the air force adopted MAC.... I'm not sure if its a part of mandatory training for them???

Tim-Bo's picture

Not mandatory for the AF, but

Not mandatory for the AF, but I have seen them train with army units.

I posted this in the forum

I posted this in the forum to, but I am disappointed with the MACP system. It is watered down jujitsu (very basic) and boxing. The techniques taught are extremely limited and only at higher levels, which are virtually impossible to get an opportunity to train for, do you see any real substance. These techniques are good in ACU's and tennis shoes, but ground fighting and punching doesn't work so well when you are wearing body army. It is great for morale, but as far as combat effectiveness it sucks. They really need to design a program for the fighter in Battle Rattle. Heck you don't really have to be concerned much with defensive tactics. I'd like to see someone punch a kevlar plate full force. Ouch! But freedom of movement is very limited so the techniques should reflect that, and there also should be a lot of training on how to handle yourself on the ground in full battle rattle, so your not just flopping around like a giant sea turtle.

Chaleira's picture

Very good points made Matt.

Very good points made Matt. Do you think there maybe any changes to it soon? Those are very good concerns.

matt787's picture

I think the MACP system will

I think the MACP system will be around for a while. I haven't heard anything to hint at changes, but who knows? But as you probably know from the CG any major organization-wide changes like that usually take years to come to fruition.

I think control techniques like you mentioned would be the most beneficial for the line guys. It wouldn't have to be a new program just an additional class.

Tim-Bo's picture

We live in a new age, war is

We live in a new age, war is not trench warfare anymore, but, in close combat in this day and age you have no clue who the enemy or combatants are. The SEALS should be the spearhead of the new training system. The SF H2H is outdated Jujitsu, takes too long to to be effective at a split seconds notice, Kabrong short strikes is what needs to be implemented in my opinion.

Tim-Bo's picture

would you members please

would you members please spread the word on this forum. I will be blogging soon and give you other H2H guys the platform to teach others the philosophy as well as the movements. thanx timbo

Well said. I'm also

Well said. I'm also remembering those who lost their lives ...and those who survived.

My Grandfather almost lost his life on HMS Hermes (95) back in 1942. He was on this ship during the Indian Ocean raid by the Japanese. 307 men on the ship died in the attack (780 on board), it was bombed 40 times. I and some of my close family would never have existed if my Grandfather was not one of the lucky ones that horrific day. Thank you to all those who have fought for the freedom of our countries.
