Hi, I am interested to know

Hi, I am interested to know the exact reason for Bruce Lee's death.

You mentioned about a misadventure on your forum post, what do you mean by this...was it drugs related?

Russell's picture

Hello Alijo, welcome to my

Hello Alijo, welcome to my group.

First,He died from a cerebral edema. This is true,no one has ever challenged this. However,"When" it occurred is inconclusive, it could have been in several minutes or over a day.The biggest problem is believing that this 1 tablet is what caused it.( I will get into that in another post)

When I mentioned "Death by misadventure" that is what is wrote on the official autopsy" for "cause of death".

What most people do not realize is that the detective in charge labeled the file as " probable homicide".

There is no easy way to answer this question in a few sentences,as a matter of fact the more you explore this ,the more questions come up, which is why Sifu Brandon Lee wanted to reopen this investigation into his fathers death after he finished filming his last movie,The Crow...

With that said, you can see why this group is a good place for this conversation, because this will open Many doors and can go on for a long time as it leads to many things many people are not even familiar with.

The biggest problem with the mystery surrounding his death stems from several factors including his body was taken to the states before a criminal investigation could be done.

The "official press release" and statements taken at the "official inquest" are far from the same !There are many changes and conflicts in the story !

Do not forget that he had collapsed 10 weeks earlier...( again this can be told in another post)

For now, look at the official story: "a single tablet that was prescribed to Betty for years by her doctor for headaches"
Well,(Red flag) Equagesic is NOT prescribed for headaches, but instead for things like, musculoskeletal disorders, which she did Not have!
So why was she "taking this for years" especially since it is both physically and psychologically addicting, therefore a controlled substance. What doctor would give that to her ?

This alone, gives us A lot of insight with other knowledge we have about Bruce Lee at the time, unanswered mysteries and more questions about events leading up to his last day.kk

But if you look at the autopsy, Equagesic was Not what caused his death.

Thanks for the lengthy

Thanks for the lengthy response! Useful info there.
Seems like you have really looked into this much further than most people which is good. You have a very good point about the drug and that why should that woman have it with her if she does not suffer from anything that should need this drug.

How did it go when Brandon opened the case up? did they find anything else?
I wonder why the docs decided not to give a proper autopsy on Bruce. Shameful it is.

Russell's picture

Yes, there is a lot more on

Yes, there is a lot more on that but I try to keep my answers short.

You asked about how it went went Sifu Brandon reopened the case. He had said that he "wanted to reopen the case",(which he wanted to do after he was done filming his last movie, and his planned wedding), unfortunately, he died while filming his movie and never had the chance to reopen it...

The doctors and their autopsy question is another long story. Which goes into even more questions, especially when you realize what the different doctors were saying at the time. It lead to theories on his death that are rather disturbing.

Excellent information there

Excellent information there Sifu..

I will have to look at amending the article about this topic to give a different view point on this.

Thanks for the information.

Jun Fan /Jeet Kune Do

Jun Fan /Jeet Kune Do Difference

Jun Fan Gung Fu was the Base System that Bruce Lee brought to the United States. This is the art that he first taught prior to the development of JKD.
This is the foundation that one Must have in order to understand JKD.

JKD was later developed into a style (in 1966 prior to the opening of the Chinatown school). But he only kept it as a style for maybe 6 or 7 months.
At this time he realized if he kept it a set style , it would be limited.
So he stopped calling it a style.

He had realized at the time, that what works for one person, may not work for another and that it has to be one's own personal expression.
But again, remember you must have the Jun Fan Gung Fu in order to understand his research, and experimentation that leads you into JKD,not just mixing arts !

At that time JKD was being taught at the Jun Fan Gung Fu Institute and that is another reason why people get confused.

Jan Fan Gung Fu is a system of progressions, a starting point where one would develop it beyond the restrictions of a set style.
JKD is a called a personal liberation from Jun Fan Gung Fu, But Must keep key principles and elements for it to be called JKD.

ah ha! Thank you Russell.

ah ha! Thank you Russell. Most people are confused on this point. I wonder how much of JKD is built upon Jun Fan Gung Fu.

Interesting discussion going

Interesting discussion going on here. I'm enjoying the read. Since Brandon died, does anyone know if Shannon has plans of opening the case back up???

Russell's picture

..No..She is not going to

..No..She is not going to reopen the case.
Brandon was the one who had dug into things and uncovered reasons for it to be opened...he died while out of state, and shortly after he mentioned that he wanted it reopened..

Chaleira's picture

hmmm, fishy. One could draw

hmmm, fishy. One could draw so many conspiracy theories from how that went down. I"m sure there are many out there....even wonder if it even has Shannon not wanting to pick up where her brother left off??? One could go on and on.

Russell's picture

Well,I'm not going there

Well,I'm not going there (conspiracy), and not saying what I know because of that.Follow the facts, find the info and you have your answer.
The autopsy Of his dad also in itself raises disturbing issues and then when you look at the inquest, you see more concern.

As far as Shannon, her and Brandon were worlds apart, he was the martial artist and she was the singer.
Brandon remembered his dad, even trained with him till he was 8. Shannon (I am told)really only has memories from home movies and friends.Personally I never met Shannon, some of my friends have but she didn't come back to California until after Brandon's death so I can't say what she thinks.

Sifu Fuson, I remember seeing

Sifu Fuson, I remember seeing a picture of you with Brandon Lee when you were both younger. He looked in his early twenties, so it was way before the Crow or Rapid Fire. You were outside somewhere by a motorcycle. I think it was an article on another movie he had done where he played a cop.

RobT's picture

Would like to see this.

Would like to see this. Please can you show us?

Chaleira's picture

Showdown in Little Tokyo? I

Showdown in Little Tokyo? I now he played a cop in that movie along with Dolf Lundgren.

Yes it would be nice if you would share :-)

Russell's picture

Chaleira, I am not even sure

Chaleira, I am not even sure what picture he had seen or where. It may not even have been me.Chances are it was a picture taken by someone else and used at the time.
You are right about the title of the movie where he played a cop, and I was no longer in California during that time.
Whatever pictures I have from that far back have either been taken by my ex or are boxed up in storage somewhere.

RobT's picture

Did you know Brandon

Did you know Brandon personallY?

Russell's picture

Yes Rob, I had met Brandon

Yes Rob, I had met Brandon back when I trained and lived in California. He was a nice man and had a good sense of humor.
When he was younger,he found it tough growing up in his fathers footsteps. But as we all know, he did an excellent job for making a name for himself not only as a martial artist, but as an actor as well. His father would be very proud of his accomplishments.

Russell's picture

Martialartsist,In answer to

Martialartsist,In answer to your question, I don't recall that exact picture, I would have to see it,I don't have a copy of one like that but if you still have it or run across it, please feel free to email me a copy.

As far as the time frame,I was never around him during any interview, but we both rode motorcycles back then, and I have worn leather jackets since the 70's.
It's also possible there was just a stock photo pulled somewhere and I happened to be in it. I do know back in those days I tried hard not to be in any pictures taken by anyone, so if it is me, It is a rare picture indeed.

The movie where he was a cop was probably in the 90's,( Showdown in Little Tokyo) I had moved from California by then, and only made frequent yearly visits, but I had not seen him at that time. However I was still there in 1987 when he was shooting the Kung Fu movie with David Carradine. He was around 21 at that time I believe.

Thanks Ashley, I try to help out whenever I can, I keep busy, but whenever someone has a question that I may of assistance with about Jun Fan Gung Fu or JKD I am more then happy to help out. There is a lot of confusion out there about JKD and that's why I formed this group to help answer some of those questions.

martialartist's picture

Thank you Sifu. I don't think

Thank you Sifu. I don't think I have the article anymore, but I recognized( or thought I did ) a younger picture of you. It stood out in my mind because you were there with Brandon, and you had a beard trimmed the way you did back then.
You looked similar to the pics I saw posted here of you with Guro Inosanto and Sifu Larry Hartsell.
I didn't even remember about the Kung Fu movie, I will have to look that one up and rent it! If I find the article or picture I will email it to you for sure.

That you for sharing the information with us anyway, I think it is awesome that you have such a history with these people, and are accessible to us here on this site !

Thank you again sir.
