Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a Brazilian form of martial art which is most popular fighting in Brazil. It is believed to be derived from the synchronization of many of the martial arts form in Japan. This form of martial arts has gained its popularity mainly because even weaker persons can learn this fighting technique and can use it mainly to defend themselves, this is because Brazilian Jiu Jitsu trains mainly to grapple the opponent and then indulge in what is known as “Ground Fighting”. Royce Gracie the legend in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu started practicing this form of martial arts when he was 8 years old and achieved the status of blue belt by the time he was 16 years of age. Before tuning 18 he had already had an experience of training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and was a black belt holder in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. This form of martial art style turned out to be his ultimate passion and with his continuous interest and practice he is now a 6th degree black belt holder in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

Royce Gracie has defeated many of the strong beholders of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and is believed to be the best player in this field so far. Royce began his career by defeating one of the known and popular names in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu of fighting style. Since then he has never looked back and as they say the rest is history. There are numerous number of winning titles and championships registered under his name. However, his official career began in the year 1993 when in his first Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) he defeated 3 best players of that time. With his consistent performance Gracie Royce has many records under his name. The most lucrative record achieved by him is 3 Ultimate Fighting Championship title and the record of defeating 4 opponents in a night in successive matches. Besides, he has also been registered as the only man in the martial art’s history to achieve such a record.

With a various number matches been played, Royce Gracie has defeated many champions, yet the largest and strongest opponent he has defeated is Akebono who weights around 468 lbs. Royce considers that match with Akebono the most challenging one and it took him around 2 and half minutes to defeat him.

Helio Gracie, father of Royce Gracie was the person who instilled basic interest of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in Royce. Royce is now hugely involved in training of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and is quiet amused and privileged to spread the furnished techniques of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu that his father has taught him. Royce’s popularity in the martial arts field can be just understood by the fact that he even trains some big screen superstars of Hollywood, his list of students from Hollywood includes name of the established and praised actors such as Nicolas Cage, Chuck Norris, Guy Ritchie etc.

Royce Grace is successfully carrying forward the tradition of traditional martial art Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. He still is an active member in the martial art’s fraternity and is always optimistic about his next fight. After all, that is the quality of a winner.
