The History and Origins of  
Southern Praying Mantis Kung Fu

Southern Praying Mantis kung fu is one of the "Hakka" fist arts from Southern China (others being, Bak Mei [White Eyebrow] and Lung Ying [Dragon Shadow]). There are four main branches of Southern Praying Mantis kung fu: Kwongsai Jook Lum (Bamboo Forest Temple) Dit Ngau (Iron Ox), Chu Gar and Chow Gar.

Kwongsai Jook Lum's founder is said to be Som Dot who was a monk from the Jook Lum Gee (Bamboo Forest Temple in Kwongsai province) and passed his kung fu system on to Lee Kun Ching (aka Lee Siem See. Lee Kung Ching travelled to southern china and passed his kung fu on to his student Cheung Yiu Chung who with his teacher travelled to Kwongsai Jook Lum gee to complete his training in this art.
Lee Kun Ching settled in Wei Yang County
