Default Standard krav maga knife attack

Anyone who has trained in krav maga will know the standard krav maga knife defense, using the forearm to stop the thrust of attack, before a quick strike and then moving in fast to obtain as much control as you can over the attacker.

The problem I have with this standard krav maga knife defense is that I cant get off line of the knife attack in accordancce with the whole KV theory.

Does anyone else have a view on this, or any advice?

Maybe you are having a hard time moving off line fast enough and smooth enough?

You really have to shoot forward fast with a burst of energy to intercept the knife attack, it is an extremely difficult task to master in my opinion because you are throwing yourself towards your attacker. This movement is necessary but certainly not natural.

He's right. using the bursting technique you both take them off balance and deliver a strike. then finish off using all the other goodies you've got tucked away.

I think its more about destroying the attack before the threat of the knife develops.

I am always deeply dubious about knife defences that do not involve securing the knife. They only work if the attacker knows how to attack you "properly".

Yeah! i think mostly using kicks to keep distance until you get an opening is best. thats what i've always done in this situation.

there are two ways/...the second cub be easier for you

i forearm block and a charge forward with the other forearm butted into the base of the side of the opponents neck . It is like one single movement. the faster and harder the better....
another way is to swing your arm that is oppositely handed to the attacker's knife arm...(the one in front of it when squaring off). Swing it from inside the out side. holding the knife arm at the wrist (hard) and bending it back at the elbow while leaning forward. this will push your opponent back and off balance...A she tries to regain balance automatically he will stretch his neck forward and then you can deliver a round house elbow smash with your other arm to the jaw. this could be done once or bring the elbow qttack twice (towards outside then back towards inside ) or one towards outside smash then while your arm is bent....turn around so that your rear body faces is front body with his knife arm still in your hand...you can then break the arm at the wrist,at the elbow (harder0 or take the knife out of his hand.

Taking the knife can be done by switching hands then balling the attackers fisyt towards inside causing it top open then jerk it outside and you have the knife...or simply knee strike the wrist bone and knife will fall out.

    Hope this helps

I study Krave Maga as for many other knife techniges . These are not easy to learn its takes more then a few doszon times to pull off some of these techniques. I study in this art but don't always agree with some of the techniques. Here's are some tips on knife defence.[ame="http://http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oYO5-lZdee0"]http://http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oYO5-lZdee0[/ame]

yes that is true but krav maga, jeet kune do and muay thai are some of the most simplest and straightforward martial arts ... leaerning is easy but never be satisfied of your level keep on trying and practicing daily but otherwise its easy to get the hang of it
