Currently caught the dreaded cold!
This made me wonder how many other people go to class / teach when they are ill?
I'm not talking about bed ridden illness here.

Personally I am happy to do exercise if I have a cold, but do you want to do martial arts with someone who is sneezing, coughing and wipeing their nose? I wouldnt.

I tend to focus on specific Qigong exercises to open the chest and work the lungs, coupled with abdominal breathing.

Well, interesting question, I know in years gone by that I use to work out no matter what, yeap it's that die hard martial arts thing.
But these days, I may still work out on my own but also tend to sit out if I think I may give it to someone else.If it is a slight cold and not contageous, I will go but not work out with any one, just to be safe.
As far as my students, I state that if they have a cold, they need to also sit out and come back when they are better. No one wants to pass along a cold, or worse yet the flu.
Passing chi to others is good, not a virus.

Definately would not train on a cold/virus, it can put stress on your body when it needs to relax. I would stick to stretching exercises. You can put a lot of time into stretching when your ill as it requires very little energy to carry out.

I do, and maybe I shouldn't, but I can't help it. It's addictive. Colds, headaches, fevers, sprains and aches. Ofcourse I let the instructor know, and go at my own pace. Even still went right after having surgery to remove my appendix. Ofcourse I didn't do any physical training for 3 weeks tho' but still showed up in class and participated where I could (capoeira songs, instruments!) and of course watch :-)

I practice the yin set of Nei Kung but not the yang when I have a cold.
The majority of my training is done in clubs I run so yes, I train however I am feeling. In all honesty I tend to train harder when I feel rough as it usually makes me feel a lot better.
That being said I do tend not to train at home if I feel rough. I just crack open the cake and sit in front of the telly...

yes i never miss training even when i have 38 temperature(before few mounts) xD
Its not problem to train when i am sick the problem is after i come home....
That surely is dedication for ya Chaleira!!
