Hi there,
Some of you may know me from elsewhere, and the real world. The rest of you won't.
For those of you who don't...
My name is John, and I'm a Glaswegian who has set up home in Ayrshire.
As far as Martial Arts are concerned...I've been studying Karate since I was 7, which is 34 years. I'm currently graded 4th Dan, and although I try not to label myself, my background is Shito-ryu Karate. I've also been studying Judo on and off since my teens, and I'm currently graded 1st Dan.
I love Sport Karate, and over the last 20 odd years I've picked up numerous trophies for Traditional Kata, Semi-Contact (Points), Light-Contact (Continuous), WUKO/WKF Kumite, Shubo Ippon Kumite, Sport Ju-Jitsu, and a couple of amatuer rules MMA bouts.
I've recently come out of retirement, and am now training as part of the Scottish multi (open) style Dusty Dragons Team, which is made up of guys who fight in the Veterans Division of the WKA and ISKA Circuits in Scotland.
I'm also doing a bit of cross-training at The Primal Legion Training Centre in Kilmarnock.
Finally, I'm a bit of an amateur wordsmith, and after have an interview done in the UK Martial Arts publication, Martial Arts Illustrated back in August, I now have a periodic collumn in that same publication titled 'Let The Lion Roar' where I feature, and interview Scottish Martial Artists.
That's me in a nutshell, but if you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
Perhaps now, the M.E fugees who are also my friends on Facebook will stop bugging me to join this site now.![]()
