    Default Blockade in my path.

My goal right now is to become great in Bujinkan, Brazilian Jiutisu, Muay Thai, and Okinawa Kobudo.

This is my path I have chosen in the Martial Arts.

The only thing about it is that I live in Canada, P.E.I.. There are only three types of Martial Arts schools: Karate, Taw Kwon Do, and Judo. The Bukinjan school I found is not advertised and my sensei and his family moved there not long ago.

If I want to follow my path I think this is what I am going to have to do: Stay with Bujinkan for the next 2 years of high school. Go to university to get a math degree and try to get to my Bujinkan class every tuesday (it is about a 2 hour drive >.>).

After I get my degree I need to convince my girlfriend to move to Japan with me where I will continue my Bujinkan Training and start my Kobudo training. After several years there. I will maybe move to a bigger province and continue Bujinkan and Kobudo and start Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

After about ten years or so in that bigger province I will move back to P.E.I. and settle down with my family and maybe teach a Martial Art.

This is what I WANT to happen, but I doubt it will. My path will be much different than I WANT, but I'll have to adapt I guess. My Martial Arts path will intertwine with other paths and I will probably get lost for a while, but in the end I'm sure I will find my way.

Man, looks like you really thought this through.... be prepared for things to not work out exactly the way you planned and good luck with the convincing your girlfriend part ;-) If believe this is a realistic goal that can be achieved and if you're serious about making it happen, hey go for it. It can happen.... I guess, just be prepared as I stated above, and also be sure to think things through and to look at the bigger picture. Also, when things don't work out exactly as you had planned or hoped, don't let it get you down. Learn from it, and as you mentioned in your post....adapt

Firstly let me say I really admire your determination.

But you mention in your profile that you have been practicing Bujinkan for less than 6 months.

I personally think it is therefore too early for you to be trying to plan your future in martial arts, especially when it comes to persuading your girlfriend to move to Japan. Your 16, you will probably have multiple girlfriends before you settle down, and there are plenty of nice ones in Japan!

2 hours is a long way to get to practice once you start studying at university. If you can do it, great but you will need to practice in your own time most days if you want to get good. A 2 hour session once a week will not get you where you want to be.

Just remember your only young, you can go a long way in martial arts so keep your interest in it by making it an ambition and a hobby you enjoy doing rather than changing your life over it just yet. If I was you, I would wait until your a few years experienced before making any life changing decisions.

Thanks for the post, very interesting.

    Nice plan.

Now you need to put it into action. File this plan away, and spend the next 2 years focusing on Buj. Train every day, train with martial artists from other styles, and work hard.

Then, once you finish highschool, re-assess your aims. Two years is a long time at your age, and things may have changed.

    Good luck.

Thanks. I am greatly prepared for things not to work out how I plan. I play chess so I usually over-analyse things.

    Chess Analogy:
How I want my path to be would only be able to workout if I was playing both side of the board, but I'm not. So I have to change my path according to my opponents move.

    Thanks again,

I'm am indeed inexperienced and it probably is too early to plan my future in pretty much anything, but I still do. :P If I still have the same girlfriend as I do now than she would most likely be more than happy to move to Japan because she has always wanted to and is taking a class in school to learn Japanese.

I know 2 hours a week isn't enough and I have already decided I would train everyday from now on. :P

I am indeed young, but I wish I had joined Martial Arts when I was even younger, but then again maybe not because it would have been in some random Martial Art...probably Karate or Taw Kwon Do instead of Bujinkan and that wouldn't be what I wanted. :P

I'll keep the decision and I will just reassess it after I graduate High School. :P

Pretty much just like what Medway said:

Chess! Ah, now that's a game I haven't played in ages. Don't have anyone to play with always. But, I like the analogy you used in regards to chess.

Thank you. Chess is a fun game! There are websites you could play at if you are interested like: www.chess.com, which in my opinion is the best.
