Default Choy Li Fut application

Choy Li Fut is quite a rare martial art, but given its authentic history in China I love this style, check out this video (ignore the useless music) for some good application demonstrations...

I think it's a great traditional martial art for those interested in authentic chinese styles.

Not many clubs teach Choy Li Fut, but yes, its good for those interested in traditional systems, rather than practical martial arts.

Hi Katy, I have seen this system used in full contact San Shou at a Kung Fu championship at Wirrel and also at the British Open Tai Chi Chuan Championships and Festival of Chinese Martial Arts in Oxford . The fighters on both occasions were of high ability and would be considered to have practical ability. I guess you have to find a good teacher with knowledge of fighting as with all systems of martial art.

Think I would agree with clouddragon here too. Choy Li Fut at times is very practical and probably even more so than the likes of martial arts such as Tae kwon do.

You have to remember Katy that a lot of chinese martial arts were built upon the very situatino of self defense. A lot of CMA were actually founded by people needing to defend themselves.
