I think it's good to see that a bigger guy like that can move so well, I was under the wrong impression that only light guys could practice a style like this. Very good movement, stylish and powerful.
I know what you mean, however, over time, I've noticed, and have met a lot of really good capoeiristas that are "bigger" people...doing things that even some "smaller" people can't do :-)

Yep I guess all the upper body work will make you big and powerful in that area, where as what I do makes the legs bigger. This Capoeira is really growing on me, I always thought it was cool but now It has risen above some of the other arts (not mentioning any of course as I like most).I was once at a club with some friends and a couple of students. There was a group of capoeristas who were dancing and a certain few were misbehaving. One of them decided to touch my students lady friend without her consent. My student wacked him and took him down good and proper. The guy was then thrown out the club by the bouncers while his mates tried to convince me he was a respectable guy and a top martial artist.I guess he had had a little too much to drink but It made me wonder if the teachers of this style were teaching discipline and how to behave as say a Kung Fu school. Is there a code of behaviour taught in these schools? you yourself have been extremely polite and respectful of others on the forum so It leads me to believe there is ??
Thanks for sharing...so did the guy himself ever come back and aplogize? Anyway, you have your bad apples...people with attitudes and such. You know, that "I'm a Bad Ass and I do what I want" mentality in and out of every style. I think their upbirnging has a lot to do with it more than anything. However, there are "codes" of conduct with in capoeira. We are taught to respect, inside and outside of the roda. It's sad that some people go out there and give their style a bad name by their code of conduct (whatever their style is). No capoeirista that I know behaves this way in public....even when completely wasted. I would remember if so, as I'm always the sober one in the bunch (don't drink) :-) I beleive that if people don't learn to behave in their upbringing at home though, the harder it will be for them to learn it at a martial art school. Hmmm, this would make a good thread topic. "codes of conduct in martial art schools. Hmmmm :-)

No we never saw him again. The whole school was behaving quite badly as the club was hosting a tribute to the sixties band "The Kinks" and it was my birthday night out. It seemed a strange idea to be practising a martial art on a dance floor whist listening to a band playing Kinks covers lol.... It was intimidating the audience and the bouncers should have dealt with it I guess.I guess they didn't realise they were martial artists but I did for sure. My student lost it when this guy was bullying girls and touching what wasn't his. The rest of his friends stayed clear of the brawl and apologised to me as I had to talk the bouncers into letting my student/friend stay in the club after the incident. Yep do start a thread I will add to it when it's up :) There are ten commandments of Tai Chi Chuan once you enter the door.
On the dance floor! Lol, I must admit, if you get a group of capoeiristas in a club where the music is good chance to see a circle and in the middle of the circle some b.boy, break dance, capoeira type stuff going on inside. But its usually dancing more than anything. It almost can't be helped especially since it is also a "dance". Some times even in the parking lot...which is more capoeira. I guess because in Brazil there are a lot of "street rodas" everywhere. But yes, if this was a concert type event they were at...I think it may not have been a good idea to do as it shifts the attention from the band. I see where that can be disrespectful to the band and the fans.
Interesting
This is such a unique style, love it.

Nice combination of movements
This is a nice combination. I like it, I'm going to use it :-)
